bical and hybrid

wasn't it unusual to find termites building their home on the base of the tendril? There was no physical damage on the pitcher.

This was the home of bicals, the hill slopes are dominated by them in colours of red, red/orange, greenish/yellow and the hybrids are dark red:smile:

Whoa, I have never heard of termites building their home on a nep before, very odd!
Beautiful pictures, thanks for sharing them!

Wow Robert! Those bicals are fantastic. The termite nest on the tendril IS quite a weird thing. Are you sure it's termites, as I see some ant species around here that make a nest that looks very similar to that material?

Not meaning specifically, but what location is this?

The gracilis x bical is also (IMO) beautiful! I can't see any, but were there any signs of fangs? The wide mouths in the first pic remind me a bit of trichocarpa.

Thanks for posting these, now I have a new hybrid to lust after!

Thanks victoria and shawn.
It was termite alright. They are everywhere and also under the ground around the bical roots. Sri aman was the location. The hybrid don't possess the fangs, though.

Wow, they looked great in the wild, Robert. Love the different colours of the pitchers. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Ali and TS. It's always nice to see neps growing in the wild, regardless of their colours and forms. Carve out by nature, individually they're interesting.

I love the gracilis x bical. It is a very vigorous grower. I have one at my window and so far it has fair very well in the past few years even when the sun shift position and no longer shine on it for a couple of months. It still pithers for me.

The last picture of this hybrid is simply beautiful with the dark maroon colour.

The fourth picture from the top is "wicket" man! It looks like blood stains flowing down the peristome. So cool.

Re: bical and hybrid

Thanks Aaron and David. The dark maroon hybrid occur where both parent plants are dark red. Elsewhere ( in another location) i notice the hybrid are greenish with slight red speckle as one of the parent plant- bical are yellowish green.
