Cephalotus Anyone?

Went to New Trio Products nursery yesterday and found 5 pots of cephalotus for sale there. The stocks have just arrived. So if you are interested to get them, better go quickly.

The nursery is located at the new area nearby Tropicana Golf and Country Club. If you are coming from Jalan Damansara towards the highway toll to Subang, turn off the main road just before the toll booths. Keep right and go straight for about 100 meters. There'll be a turning on your left. There's a whole stretch of nurseries there, most of which shifted there recently after the government took over their land in Sungai Buloh for read construction. New Trio nursery is number 19.

Each pot of Cephalotus comes in a clump and is about 3 inches in diameter. Tow pots have pitchers as big as 2cm.

New stocks are also available for the usual Sarracenias you see in nurseries around KL.

Four pots left. Here is the picture. They keep the plant somewhere, please ask the worker for "expensive carnivorous plant". Few air plant available too, please ask for "nanas".

Cool, unfortunately, I can't go there until weekends. By the time then, I suppose that the cephalotus will be sold off. :(

Do they sell other CPs?

Cheers

Re: Cephalotus Anyone?

I can't go all the way to KL just to buy this cute little guys. I will never get them (my goal is the same as Ifurita, get all species of CPs.) unless someone buy and post laju it to me.(which is also impossible.)

Re: Cephalotus Anyone?

I see they use sphagnum. They are smarter than my local nursery who repot every plant in normal soil including the sarras.

Re: Cephalotus Anyone?

Yes Edward. they do sell other CPs. Sarras and Neps.

'nanas' looks like tillandsias.. so, its easier for the nursery workers there to get what youre trying to say i guess. :2thumbup::2thumbup:

Re: Cephalotus Anyone?

David, do you have the full addres of this nursery? At least the name of the road?

Cheers

David 14th November 2008 09:25 PM

Re: Cephalotus Anyone?

There don not seem to be a road name. It's within the Tropicana area. The land there has just been cleared for the nurseries. Look for the high tension cables. All the nurseries are under the cables. Just follow the road map I posted earlier.

Or you can call one of the owners, James Yong at 012-2340538. The nursery is New Trio Products.

How should I ask them whether they have ceph. Ask them 'expensive CP'??

David 15th November 2008 02:49 PM

Re: Cephalotus Anyone?

Aaron I believe eric sow has already answered that question in the first page of this thread.

Re: Cephalotus Anyone?

oops. forgot. hehehe.

edwardyeeks 16th November 2008 02:49 PM

Re: Cephalotus Anyone?

They have four pots left, I booked one and Aaron booked another so should have only two pots left. They sell most of the other CPs commonly found in other nurseries, only in better condition. All CPs except nepenthes are grown in LFS and perlite. There's a albormaginata there, just one, I couldn't see any.

The boss, James was very friendly when I chatted with him over the phone. He wasn't at the nursery. Turns out he was a member of the old petpitcher forum. He said that if lots of members from the forum would like to buy more cephs, then he might order more for everyone.

David, you were right, the road has no name. However, I noticed there was a fish shop of some sort when I first went there. Oh, yeah, I also met cp_unlimited there! There are a lot of other types of plants there, especially cactus.

So, for those who still want to buy cephs, better hurry!

Cheers

Re: Cephalotus Anyone?

Just to correct some information here. New Trio Products or Nursery No 19 (Tropicana) do sell sphagnum moss. Theirs is the high quality s. moss from New Zealand by Bestgrow brand. You need to ask the workers there and they will bring out for you.

They are the distributor for s. moss in the plant sections in Ace, other hyper markets and supermarkets.

They also have perlite and peat.
