An unexpected finding near wetland area!
Few months ago, a famous Taiwan aquatic plant expect, Lin Chun-Chi (林春吉) came to Malaysia. He would like to take some photos of Malaysian aquatic plant for his new book. So, we came to this wetland area.
http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c2...m/DSCN2773.jpg This area is quite big. However, not much interesting aquatic plants there. http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c2...silim/chun.jpg |
Re: An unexpected finding near wetland area!
The only rare aquatic plant we found was Aponogeton undulatus! People there called it 'Sotong Air' (Water Squid). http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c2...m/DSCN2743.jpg
And I caught some tiger barb (Puntius partipentazona). Nothing special. http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c2...m/DSCN2755.jpg |
Re: An unexpected finding near wetland area!
Due to not much things there, we decided to move to another wetland. After 1 hour travel, I saw something familiar hidden between the fern.
http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c2...m/DSCN2794.jpg Wow! What is this? http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c2...m/DSCN2796.jpg To be continued...... *biggrin2* |
Re: An unexpected finding near wetland area!
Wah... looks like haruan country man....
|
Re: An unexpected finding near wetland area!
Well. Didn't see any haruan. But saw a school of Toman! Quite a big school!!
Haruan = Channa striata Toman = Channa micropeltes |
Re: An unexpected finding near wetland area!
Haruan usually stay close to structure in shallow water... while Toman will roam and tends to group in one area... did you see red color fries? Arhh... miss my fishing days.... :crying:

|
Re: An unexpected finding near wetland area!
To NepNut: NO. Didn't see any red fries.
To Arvin555: Didn't get any Betta. Not in Penang Island. Not in northern mainland too. |
Re: An unexpected finding near wetland area!
The pitcher looks kinda weird! I never saw a pitcher like this before.
http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c2...m/DSCN2798.jpg More pitchers/pictures coming up tonight! Stay tuned! :2thumbup: |
Re: An unexpected finding near wetland area!
Cool!!! That pitcher kind of reminds me of my green sanguinea. I wonder what species is that?
|
Re: An unexpected finding near wetland area!

|

Re: An unexpected finding near wetland area!
Another pitcher with brownish colour. Could it be an undescribed species? I'm kinda confused!

Re: An unexpected finding near wetland area!
Suddenly, these two good old friends appeared!
Hmm... Could that mystery pitcher be... http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c2...m/DSCN2800.jpg Check the leaf and petiole of this mystery Nepenthes. http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c2...m/DSCN2789.jpg Now, I got some ideas about the identity of this unknown pitcher. http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c2...m/DSCN2785.jpg |
Re: An unexpected finding near wetland area!
Look at this upper pitcher! Is it familiar?
Yes! It's a natural hybrid between N. gracilis and N. rafflesiana!! http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c2...DSCN2783-1.jpg This is how's the guessing game began! Ha ha... Thanks for viewing! *biggrin2* http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c2...m/DSCN2784.jpg |

Re: An unexpected finding near wetland area!

Re: An unexpected finding near wetland area!
Lin you are so black hearted lol!Nice teasing game xP

Re: An unexpected finding near wetland area!
Lim, even the place is a guessing game, but of course we don't want to discuss where the place is in public and I don't have any chance to visit anyway even if I knew.. plus no betta :)
I got the Gracilis part right at least, but it was just a guess. Most of your Gracilis actually have green pitchers? The one in my collection usually has very small and dark brown pitchers though. Man I wouldn't be surprised that you will post a Drosera photo too :) TTFN Arvin |
