Ferns!

Hi everyone

Ummmm....... I have ferns growing in some of my nep pots....I realised that ferns do grow very well and quite big in areas where you find neps in the wild don't they? So i have one more pot left which is a mixture of LFS and normal potting soil and somehow among all the pots which has ferns in them. But in the wild they grow normally in low nutrient soil along with CPs.That pot contains the most fern growth and also some different kind of fern...I like the growth of ferns on my nep pots because it gives a little more leafy look on the pot you know?

I also wanna know more about this guys and how they grow or what media they do best on.So that maybe one day i can actually even start growing these commen ferns.Anyone has ever even tried "cultivating" them??? I have 2 different kind of fern...One has much more "leaves" and less visible stem and doesn't grow tall while the other one grows taller and taller...Has less leaves and has a lot of "stems"....So anyone knows where to learn more about these guys? And also if you have them growing everywhere take a pic and post it here:1thumbup:

I get ferns coming up in my CP pots, I have successfully transplanted some of them into normal potting mix. I also have coral fern species growing in one of my native binata pots. It grows in the standard peat and sand mix, standing in water.

Hi Ali

Yeqah i tried but theres so many species of ferns that its a little hard to ID them.

Hi Khaos

So you're saying that ferns do better in a more fertile pot? I have small ferns which nvr seem to grow bigger on my truncata pot which is 100% LFS as a media...

Re: Ferns!!!!!!!

There are SO many different kinds of ferns, some small, and some get very large, very fast, even tree ferns. It really depends on which fern it is that you have with your other plants. I happen to have a few small ferns growing with my CPs as well, but pull out those that I know will overwhelm the pots, and everything in them. - Rich

Hi

Well i don't pull them out like i use to anymore.........Anyways they don't even take up much space...The ferns which are growing beside my neps are around 15cm tall.........Not so big at all....Some just 5-10cm...

Another thing i don't wanna open up another thread but does anyone in KL knows where to get Savage Garden by peter d amato near my place??? Does 1utama sell them? Particularly MPH?

Well I have a 3 bird's nest fern. One big one outside and 2 small one in my bathroom. One is producing short broad leaves while another is producing long thin leaves.
