Edward, as I know, Fauzi dont have sawtooth, but, shark teeth. Lets me call him tomorrow and confirm it.

My royal red VFT is still small, it is full red.

VFT will show you difference looks when they are in difference place. Like my experience, last time, I pass a really red VFT to Edwin (retired from CPs). In his place that receive a lots of sunlight as my place, but, the VFT turn green. So, how to identify it? Unless they are showing the unique looks, like sharkteeth, saw teeth, fused tooth...

Someone told me that, VFT will turn red if day temperature and night temperature difference by 6'c. Dont know how true it is.

Fauzi sells shark teeth, not saw tooth. :wub:

I have a day and night temperature difference by 8°C to 9°C at home, but still some supposed-to-get-very-red or supposed-to-show-red-appearance VFTs (long red fingers, red band...) are still didn't show their full colour. I think they require a temperature difference of more then 10°C to show the lovely red hue like what they normally appear in the spring.

I found some red VFTs get very red when they are small (strange), the mother plant is not that red. I don't know how they will turn out when they reach their maturity. Still under observation. :unsure: Hope they maintain the colour. :laugh:

I don't know whether it is called shark teeth or sawtooth......sorry. :tongue:

But he has quite a number of VFTs! My akai ryu is turning more like typical, now much more greener......

Mine too, Edward. The veins and inside the traps are red while the petioles are green.

Hi Edward and Aaron

Tee hee.....Mine still red never changed much.....I mean got grow la but still as red as i bought it.My green VFT seems to be dying (dormancy) cause i put it in a minibog and i know the bog is pest free....And also i don't see any mealty bugs or aphids or anything under the plant..If there is my other VFT and sarr will be having it to but they seem fine.Anyways probally its dormancy....For no reasons its loosing almost all its leaves but the rhizome is still whitish.

Beside what TS said, I found that red VFT will lost their red color if you plug it from media. And it take times or months to get back their color even you keep it in the same environment as previous. So, I think it is best try not to repot those VFT, unless really need to do so.

My green VFT is growing Yellowish green deformed traps that shut slowly while the older traps shut quickly. And the newer traps are getting smaller with shorter petiole? Pest or Dormancy??

I agree with TS, while my bigger 'Akai Ryu' are not showing their true potential in being RED, the plantlet are truly red! I hope the color will remain through out.
