Night blooming cereus

Hylocereus undatus is blooming tonight on the wall at Punahou School. The wall is about a quarter of a mile long, and the plant (actually a number of them) is growing on the top of the wall. Tonight is the best night of the year for the flowers, each of which last only one night. The school is somewhat famous for its Hylocereus undatus, but more famous for one of its graduates, Barack Obama.

Hey, these are pretty. Locally known as Dragon Fruit. Malaysia now has this Dragon Fruit Collar Rot problem, caused by fungus. Devastating the industry.
