Ken,

I think the trick is to acclimatise the plants. Cindy from Singapore has been growing ceph for a long time with great success. I also have two pots now in my terrarium that has been with me about 6 months and 2 months. Temperature during the day is always above 29 degrees.

A few other members like Jonathan and TS are also growing ceph and they grow them in their garden.

Just to ask, are you leave the plant in clump or separate them to each pot? My Cephalotus came out a lot spoon leaf and pitchers grow in pact mode. My early pot after repot it and gone with the wind. A bit scare to repot them again.

Eric,

The golden rule to Cephalotus is:

Never fix what is not broken. If it is growing well, please leave it at the same place in the same pot.

Any root disturbance will cause some of the foliage to turn yellow and shrivel up, however minimal. So if you are thinking of splitting your clump, then be prepared to lose a good number of leaves and pitchers.

Ok, Cindy, now I know why my cephalotus lost quite a lot of pitchers when I transplanted it! Thanks!

Cheers

Well my ceph didn't lose any pitchers from transplanting but its so slow growing. Slower than my rajah. The new leaves are a little yellowish . Is that normal or is it underwatered, overwatered, etc?

Re: ericsow: First Cephalotus

Plantlover,
If they are just a little yellow, perhaps it is just from the transplanting. New leaves being yellowish could be root mealies or root rot. You better hope it is neither.

Edward,
After repotting all the open pitchers should be topped up with water. The roots of Cephs are very fragile and once they are mis-aligned, they snap into pieces. When that happens, the plant will react by absorbing water back from the older leaves or pitchers. What we see then is the yellowing.
