the humidity around the seeds should be around 70-80% best, if too wet may cause mold. Do not let the seeds soak in water for too long, it may kill them as well. I normally put seeds in box with transparent cover, I punch the cover for some ventilation holes, I put the box shaded from direct sunlight but there are enough light for it to germinate, It will takes about 3-4 weeks to germinate, if you do not see any of them germinate in 5 weeks, you may throw them away, it is considered FAIL.

But some seeds may take time to germinate.I've also heard Cp'ers reporting their seeds germinating after 1 year.

dont throw away unless the seeds were attacked by fungus. some seeds germinated in 18 days ( in my experience are amp, raff, mirabilis, stenophylla ). Growers have different rate of germination and that will depend on their local conditions.

Re: seeds germination

I have had N. benstonei seeds germinated after 4-5 months !!

pwarrior,
What the site said is mainly how the process of germinating nep seeds in sterile agar media (also used for growing TC plants) in vitroly (in a concealed flask) was done.

Pic 1 - Seeds were placed in a sterile media

Pic 2 - Seeds started to germinate after 6 weeks

Pic 3 & 4 - Some seeds may take longer to germinate. In this case most seeds germinated and seedlings slowly growing bigger after a few months for N. sp. viking x rafflesiana var alata.

Pic 5 & 6 - When it's too crowded, separate the seedlings into new flasks.

Pic 7 - When the seedling is bigger with well developed roots, it can be deflasked and slowly acclimatise to grow outside. Seedling shown here is N. sp viking x sp 2.

Hope this help.
