Welcome Lan! This is a very friendly forum, and you will learn a lot from the experienced CP gurus here.

So you did your thesis on tissue culture? Do you do tissue culture as a hobby now? I tried tissue culture with some droseras before, but it did not turn out well. (contamination :crying:)

Could you also share which nepenthes you have?

 Hi! Marigoldsfail! Nice to meet u too…

Yup…really is a very friendly forum..I just post yest9, today already got 5 friendly people reply me liao…hehe..right..this is the nice place to let me learn a lot from the experienced CP gurus…:1thumbup:

Yup! I did my thesis on tissue culture..1st, my supervisor let us learn how to culture orkid. After that, I use the leaf of 3 variety Labisia pumila andthe seed of 3 variety Hibiscus cannabinusfor my thesis. For Labisia pumila, I also get many contamination result. Luckily I get good result and many callus of Hibiscus cannabinus.

U said that u get contamination of droseras, I think is that sterilization or technique not suitable for droseras. But mostly is sterilization problem. So what parts of droseras that u use to culture?

I now dun do tissue culture as my hobby, because dun have any culture room in my hometown. I did tissue culture at University in Kuala Lumpur. Very sorriness about it….:crying:

Hehe!! I still new with Cpshttps://forum.petpitcher.net/images/icons/icon10.gif …So I also no know my nepenthes is what variety..I will take their picture and share with u when I free…Because I am working now…haha!! Cant chatting liao..If not, sure get boss scold…https://forum.petpitcher.net/images/icons/icon8.gif

Have a nice day!! https://forum.petpitcher.net/images/icons/icon12.gif

https://forum.petpitcher.net/images/icons/icon12.gif Caseyhoo, haha!! U quite funny…Ok! I will poison my dad slowly…He more like tree and dessert rose…Nvm..I will get more Cps myself 1st…If he scold, I also dun care liao!! Haha!
 Ooops! U also interested in TC! If people no know TC, they sure think TC is very boring and waste the time..But if we can good result, we sure very happy and enjoy it. I did my thesis on tissue culture.. Before that, I dun want do this title because I never touch it before. But my supervisor call us to learn and will get the fun if we enjoy it. 1st, my supervisor let us learn how to culture orkid. After that, I use the leaf of 3 variety Labisia pumila andthe seed of 3 variety Hibiscus cannabinusfor my thesis.

Kitchen TC is designed and equipped to carry out all general tissue culture and provides consultation and technical services to investigators. Micropropagation involves the mass production of plants, from small parts (such as shoot tips, axillary buds, nodes, rhizomes) in sterile controlled environments. The major steps in plant TC involve: Establishing an explant in a sterile culture environment free of contamination from bacteria and fungi, Inducing a proliferation of multiple shoots or callus, then transferring these shoots to fresh media to induce further growth, after that rooting in vitro or in soil, last acclimating the plantlets to the outside environment.

Welcome to the forum and the world of CPs, the world of no turning back, hehe
I suggest you to get some drosera first, grow them secretly and poison your dad when they are in their most beautiful state. I think the D. burmanii is the best candidate poison, the leaves are broad, so maximum dews are shown. May be you guys can help to suggest some other CPs.

Re: Hi! Nice to meet u all...

Hi there Lan,

Welcome again. Can you start a thread in the "All stuff on CPs" board to talk about TC? I think alot of us here are interested to know about it. Can run us through step by step how to do it, what we need to buy and the ratio and quantity of vitamins in the agar to use etc? I've always wanted to do TC myself and always curious about how it works. Would be great if you can show us pictures too. :2thumbup: Tks

By the way, I am just curious, what do you do in an Internal Marketing department? i'm back dated a little, have not heard of this department before. By the way, I am in Marketing too.

Lan, Which exibition? In Penang?

Re: Hi! Nice to meet u all...

 Hi! David,
Actually TC must do in Laminar flow hoods at the laboratory. Normaly TC done in horizontal hoods. Horizontal hoods are designed such that the air flows directly at the operator hence they are not useful for working with hazardous organisms but are the best protection for cultures. TC also need some equipments which very expensive. So normally, we can’t do TC at home or the place which dun have laminar flow hoods and equipments. Before we want start to culture plants, we need to find out what the medium (agar) and sterilization are suitable for that plants. This need waste long time and energy to test.https://forum.petpitcher.net/images/icons/icon9.gif Sorry…I never do TC in Cps before, so I can’t get u all any idea. If u all just interested in TC and dun care culture what plants, I can show the picture of my thesis and some info…But as I know, this forum better use to talk about Cps only…

:laugh:Haha! U no back dated a little lah..,is me dun say clearly…paiseh…Actually I work in Tecxans International Logistic Group(TGM). My department is marketing too…But I just stay in office only and need to face computer everyday. My main job is search new customers or help customers find supplier from other country… all through email or skype…hehe!! Clear??

 Ban Aik, dun scare me… I just know the simple of TC only…cant become sifu wan…haha!! https://forum.petpitcher.net/images/icons/icon10.gif
:crying: The sorrinessest is we can’t do TC at our home…must do in lab which have Laminar flow and some equipments. So still interested in TC?? Hehe!!

Welcome to the forum. Might able help with some published growing media for CPs out of the various journals if you want have a go.
If you can get actually Nepenthes plants (not seeds) into tissue cultures you would be on a winner. No one has manage to do this yet.
