Just a couple of pics
N. eustachya from MT. I feel that this species is underrated. Especially now that I know it colours up so nicely in bright light. Even the tendril is red.
http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...stachya_MT.jpg http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...tachya_MT1.jpg N. campanulata grown in burnt earth. Newest leaf is somehow rounder. The leaf shown here is 4.5cm and the pitcher is 3cm excluding the lid. :1thumbup: http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...lata_ratio.jpg http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...ata_ratio1.jpg N. truncata 'Pasian' - didn't like the heat and produced much smaller leaves, the latest pitcher is quite large though  http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...ata_pasian.jpg http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...ta_pasian1.jpg |
Re: Just a couple of pics
My truncata is having the same problem as yours Cindy. You can see the lid and the pitcher have contraction between them. What causes it??or it's normal after stress??

Re: Just a couple of pics
Cindy,
Nice eustachya, did your plant get few hous of direct sunlight or just in bright shade? I hope mine will turn out like yours... Am I right to assume the red coloration on eustachya won't get bleach by direct sunlight?? Looks like campanulata dont mind the mineral salt built up at all after all this time, cool !! |
Re: Just a couple of pics
Hi Cindy
Nice plants i love your N.eustachya nice red colouration must be getting a lot of sunlight.Anyway why would u say that the N truncata doesn't like the heat????Since i and u stay in the same enviroment i grow mine in my balcony too and its fine with the heat and even produced and opened its 1st pitcher about 6.5" tall has a nice lime green flared peristrome but probally its gonna fold back and turn bronze like most of the truncata i see.Hi Ali i think the pitcher is deformed or something maybe you damaged it while u were moving it around thats just my opinion. Ken |
Re: Just a couple of pics
Truncata have both lowland and highland form Ken.
Cindy's one is HL and don't like heat so much.I wasn't moving it around..!! |
Re: Just a couple of pics
Hi Ali,
I know cindy's 1 is a highland and i also know N truncata has HL and LL type.....I thought cindy only grew LLders. Ken |
Re: Just a couple of pics
A lot of speculation going on here.
Ken and Ali, I grow all sorts of Neps but mostly lowlands and species. The truncata is a highland form and when it came it was put together with my lowland plants. It didn't quite like the sudden drop in humidity and rise in temperature. Many of the S'poreans have this form from BE too but I think their plants are doing much better in more constant humidity. The pitcher is slightly deformed probably because of my irregular watering. The plant is in one of my rooms and I sometimes forget about it. cpnut, the eustachya is in a bright spot without direct sunlight. I have not tried growing it in a place with direct sunlight before but I think it will only bring out a brighter red. It isn't obvious in the photos but one side of the pitcher is more red...the side facing the direction where the light comes into my balcony. |
Re: Just a couple of pics
Cindy,
Thanks for the feedback, I'll try to grow my eustachya under a few hours of direct sunlight daily and see what happen... |
Re: Just a couple of pics
campanulata omg.. is that the one that grows on cliffs in the wild?
im dreaming of it i cant find it anywhere. where did you buy it from? thanks:smile: |
Re: Just a couple of pics
Hi Cindy, nice neps you have there.
And here is a couple of my little eusthachya pics to share. http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r...Picture329.jpg http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r...Picture348.jpg |
Re: Just a couple of pics
Nice plants, Cindy and Bifurcatum
|
Re: Just a couple of pics
malowie, the campanulata is from BE. They are quite common amongst the growers in S'pore because I brought in a number of them for the last shipment. You can check if Fauzi if he still has them for sale.
bifurcatum, is your plant from MT too? I have a few other plants from seeds and they have not coloured up much yet. |
Re: Just a couple of pics
Cindy, it's from MT. Bought it from Fauzi.

Re: Just a couple of pics
Hello! I grow the HL truncata from BE in LL conditions. It seems to be doing just fine. Researching this plant I came upon several articles as well as forum posts that stated that both forms of truncata have no problem adapting to either HL or LL conditions. As for now is has been constantly growing, although slowly. However, it keeps putting out larger leaves and pitchers. Here are some pics...
http://i359.photobucket.com/albums/o...aPasian002.jpg http://i359.photobucket.com/albums/o...aPasian004.jpg I originally wanted to get a LL truncata but I ended up with this one instead, slight misunderstanding hehe. I will, however, get my hands on a LL trunc as soon as the opportunity presents itself. Love the eustachyas by the way. And the campanulata.... I am waiting for the oportunity to add one of those to my collection. Later! |
Re: Just a couple of pics
Yay i already have a LL truncata growing very nicely likes yours pananep.
All your plants look very green and healthy with nice size pitchers.Hope you ventricosa will not be soo moody when i adjust to the enviroment. You don't do anything special for your HL plants rite?? Ken |
Re: Just a couple of pics
Nice pics Pananep!!
Do you have any problems with your truncata Pananep? |
Re: Just a couple of pics
BE's N. truncata 'Pasian' highland plants do very well here in Singapore. The plants come in a range of colours from green to dark red.
|
Re: Just a couple of pics
Hi guys
Today i just realised my truncata pitcher peritrome folded back and turn reddish/bronze..Do all N truncata LL do this?????Is there any truncata that has green peristrome and never turns its colour?.But i like mine with the bronze peristrome. Ken |

were they like burnt? they look black |
Re: Just a couple of pics
it is actually wet so showing the black color, if dry up the color is more to brownish color, this help to tell if the plant need watering

Re: Just a couple of pics
Nice plants Wijaya... wow, your pots sure are "airy"... interesting... :2thumbup:
|
Re: Just a couple of pics
Hi Wijaya,
Nice plants,The HL truncata/pasian seems to have wings on its pitchers and my LL truncata doesn't....anyway i prefer it without wings...afraid it will fly away like my VFT and Sarrcenia.Oh yah spotted a N.Viking x N.ampullaria.......Nice 1 Ken |
Re: Just a couple of pics
@cpnut: yes, most of my neps are in basket like pot, due to my growing area, I do twice a day watering plus the misting system around the clock during the day time. And furthermore, looks like the neps prefer the airy root area.
@kentosaurs: Thanks. Ed |

Re: Just a couple of pics
Hi Ali,
My truncata doesn't have maybe there are some variants....when i bought the plant it had 1 pitcher with no wings i thought the nursery accidently teared it when moving it around but when my truncata produced its current pitcher i didn't have wings too! Thats when i realised my truncata doesn't have wings....Mine has reddish/bronze peristrome under full sun really nice colour to me lar of cos you guys probally have a lot more varieties have N truncata.I would love to post a pic of it but now i have no digital camera....
