From Phuket with Sunburn

Ouch it hurts so much. Anyone know how to sooth sunburn. Got sunburnt in Phuket for swimming too long. And got a nasty scratch on my elbow and hips by sharp sand. The strange thing is only my legs are sunburnt and not any other area. It hurts when your clothes touches it, when you hit it, when you poke it,when you scratch it, when you walk, when you stand, when you touch it, when you run and etc.

Lol, so phuket isn't very suitable for you, Aaron? Well, you can get some sunburn cream, which I think you are doing it now. On the other hand, get an unopened nep pitcher and slice it open to obtain the sterile liquid in it. That liquid will work and sooths you A LOT. That is unless you wanna sacrifice your nep......lol

Cheers

Edward,
The fluid inside the pitcher is known for the orang asli to use if they have eye infections.

Aaron,
Go and consult with the doctor.Hope you get well soon.;)

Re: From Phuket with Sunburn

For me, the answer is still a plant. Aloe Vera. I have a few Aloe plants but I have not used them on sunburns, what I use is a commercial formulation which is Aloe Gel, specifically for Sunburns. But if you have Fresh Aloe vera, that is probably the best.

Next time make sure you use a good sunblock and apply after a few hours, prevention is better than cure. Sunburn on lips can happen too, it hurts and inflamed by lips (like Angelina Jole, but I'm a guy so made me looks worse). So use sunblock lipbalm if you will be on or near water surface a long time. I got the burn from sailing for 3 days nonstop.

I'm dark skinned so I really seldom get sunburned, but I still use a high SPF sunblock anyway, coz my wife and family doesn't want me to be invisible at night :)

Highland Neps actually receive more UV rays than their lowland counterparts. And that is what gives you sunburn.

I have used Aloe vera for sunburn and other burns. A friend who is a nurse think Aloe works better than most of the 'mainstream' treatment. If used straight away it will reduce the level of the burn.
Better still don't get burnt, it lead to increase chance of skin cancer, something Australians know too well.
