Hey, welcome, C'way! So you stay in Puchong? Is it bandar kinrara? Well, if you want to go into nepenthes first, then nepenthes miranda, ventrata and sometimes gracilis is most easiest to find in any local nursery. Don't worry, your grow list will start soon!

I am currently trying to propagate lots of drosera spathulata through leaf cuttings. I will give some to you for free when the become more mature. ;) Will send a private message to you when they are ready. You have my word!

Again welcome! Hope your list will grow! By the way, what plants are you interested in?

Cheers

Well, its more like the fish will eat utrics!! By the way, C way, I am staying in sentul.

Welcome again! Maybe you can start of with some neps. There is a man called Fauzi who sells tons of neps!! Plus, he stays nearby in KL. Check out his website:-

www.dapat.net/4zeplant

Of course, there are also other CP sellers, but Fauzi is the nearest in KL and I think the best nep seller.

Anyways well suprisingly you actualy have a CP already lol.........Where did you get it and how do you grow it without algae in your tank.I myslef also have a small glass tank for fishes no plants but it has swordtails tetras and some tetra looking fish which is grey and black....The tank always seems to grow algae on the glasses...Any tips on preventing it?

Re: I'm da newbie of all newbie

there are certain kind of aquatic creature will solve the problem, some go for sucker fish, some go for chemical(all sort of anti-thingy), for me i prefer aquatic snail, cause it grows fast and reproduce fast, but it will end up eating the trap of the u. gibba, so it is up to your personal preferance:smile:

Just go to almost any nursery and you will find a ventrata. Its cheap, I got 1 for RM12. Maybe some nurseries will sell them for RM20 + Its a very easy plant. Refer to this forum and ask questions if you don't know something. A lot of experts are in this forum. Try buying some books from this forum's bookstore. It benefits both the forum and you.

edwardyeeks 1st January 2009 10:22 PM

Re: I'm da newbie of all newbie

Yeah, ventrata is an easy plant to grow. But it tends to become green and boring in LL conditions.

OKOK, I know you are confused by the word LL. It means lowland. Nepenthes grows in three zones. The zones are lowland, intermediate and highland. Highland is cold, intermediate is between highland and lowland, and lowland is the temperature of the place we are living.

Sungai buloh has lots of plants, but very few has superb quality neps.

depends,
hot weather-almost the same as every where, can fry egg on the floor
cool weather-cooler
rainy day-similar to cameroon highland, lemon tea become ice lemon tea
rainy day with strong wind plus a thunder-chilling and some times soft roof flying away...and my tv habis because of the storm:laugh:

Hey........why there is some stars in my word??I didn't put that?

Re: I'm da newbie of all newbie

Hi

Well if you do stay by a hillside still most probally its in lowland conditions just maybe slightly cooler and higehr humidity...Most highland neps/nepenthes will produce smaller or innatractive pitchers under lowland conditions..As for intermediates in my own opinion they are the most troublesome to grow them into optimum conditions since hardly anyone ever creates an intermediate greenhouse or an intermediate terrarium...Its either lowland or highland..But intermediates will do good in both lowland and highland most of the time.

Re: I'm da newbie of all newbie

Well, you remind me of Fauzi's nursery. You have a very high temperature gap, it seems. Intermediate plants should do well, I think. Plus, VFTs can tahan the weather and Darlingtonias do well to, although it isn't a beginners plant:tongue:

David 3rd January 2009 10:25 PM

Re: I'm da newbie of all newbie

Ok, the "****roach" appears because the word "c o c k" has been baned on the forum. Therefore, even if you key in "c o c k r o a c h" the system will deleted the word "c o c k" and replace it with "****"
