Yes, the chinese called it 火烧泥, over here they collected the burnt soil from brick furnace. It's the leftover...

Ah.......can anyone send me them ahahahahahaha just jking i'll try to get one from local nurseries.I don't know how to read chinese words and i don't know how to speak mandarin all i know is BM,English and Cantonease.A mix of LFS and burnt soil might be good hahah LFS for the topping....

Ya... burnt earth or burnt soil is called 火烧泥 in chinese..mostly people use this soil to plant desert rose.....

Oh you mean adenium obesums?????I have 1 of that i almost murdered it 3 times once because my towel fell on it crushed all its leaves and the other 2 times was because of some black tiny bugs.So far it has "died" and came back to life several times.It onced flowered for me.

I am using s/moss and perlite.....hope it is doing ok:smile:

PNorchids, it should be fine as long as you allow for some drying out inbetween watering. Most people would cringe if they see how dry I allow the LFS on the top to become. So allow me to quote what Robert posted on the S'pore forum. ;)

"The top exposed media layer looked dry but try to investigate the inner part and it feels moist...

If the top layer look dry spray a small amount of water to it to comfort yourself. :laugh:"

Wish I had seen your burnt red earth thread when my other campanulata shows signs of rotting.

Now I'm growing the only one left with natural mountain red earth it's doing well.

You have grown the "rejects" into Swans now! I'm sure it would be hard for you to part with them now.
