Re: General knowledge about Ping.
what species or hybrid ? x'Florian , debbertiana - jaumavensis - ehlersae have you some flower ?
for me it is a hydroponic substrate , 'in situ ' the substrate is quite different *biggrin2* the dormancy is necessary for a lot of plant , otherwise they would wither . here for the mexican ping the succulent stage are necessary for them like 'in situ' some of mine in mineral substrate actually not in dormancy http://pinguicula.free.fr/ping2010bis.JPG jeff |
Re: General knowledge about Ping.
Got a question. I put Ping in full light but the leaves like not sticky anymore to trap insects. I saw a few ants running around happily on it like mocking at my face :glare:. Can it due to strong like that like dry up the sticky substances? And the leaves look kind of wilted as well mayb not enough water? (i do put in water tray though)
Here is the pic (shld hv posted earlier sry ) http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/i...3/P1010724.jpg http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/i...3/P1010750.jpg |
Re: General knowledge about Ping.
They are P. ehlersiae. I have P. 'Florian' and P. jaumavensis as well. Still got no flower. I used to try 100% inorganic media. But the plants were not doing well.
I think tropical climate won't trigger Mex. Pings to dormant. At least for my plants. Let's see how they doing after several years. Quote:

The lowest temperature is 23 °C during the raining season. But usually is 25-26 °C. The maximum temperature is 36-37 °C. I can't provide temperature as low as 10 °C.
