my little hideout
To cut a long story short, I was growing orchids and airplants before getting poisoned by neps. Although the airplants were growing well at my home (high rise HDB flat in Singapore) the neps were not really doing that well and I knew the airplants would do better out in the open also. After a few months of searching, I finally found a suitable place to house them :)
Here's the pics! This was my previous nep setup, march 2011 https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net..._1296713_n.jpg and this was taken when I first moved ALL my neps outdoors, May 2011 https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net..._3952022_n.jpg afterwhich I built a rack to hang my tillandsias and other plants https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net..._1468939_n.jpg july 2011, filling up nicely https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net..._4170425_n.jpg added some episcias as groundcover, trying to hide the ugly tray, Sept 2011 https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...89081149_n.jpg I then constructed a small waterproof structure to put my small collection of cacti and succulents https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...26934407_n.jpg here it is now, Oct 2011. Two trays almost full, wallet already empty :( https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...38931773_n.jpg |

Waaa.... Great transformation. Just curious, the tray of water, how do you prevent mosquitoes from breeding? Do you make holes in the tray?

Re: my little hideout
nice. out of curiosity is the area surrounding the rack the compound of your house? if so, you sure have a LOT of space... :P

Re: my little hideout
Very nice and good. As what everyone has mentioned just now, is the area around you your house compound? You stay in a high rise HDB flat, don't you? Is this area the ground floor of the flat? I just puzzled over how you maintain your plants' safety from being stolen......if it were me I would be worried terribly :spinning:
On the other hand, all the nepenthes are growing well and yes, cramped space is happening for growers like us who just can't get enough of nepenthes *biggrin2*.....you could consider selling some plants to "fill" up your wallet too  |
