Re: My 1 year old VFTs
Hi Guys, thx for the compliment...
i think i better clear up the misunderstanding here... i bought the plant 1 year ago as a 5cm diameter plant... its been in my care for a year not that its necessarily 1 year old sorry for the confusion. @ Malowie : theres fibre glass roof on top of it @ harlem : yah the drosera grew there from seeds i deliberately sow them there... but if i try move other droseras which didnt grow in that area from seeds they will get burned by the sun... i tried moving the plant that produced the seeds which i sow on that vft pot and got burned in 4 days ( very brown and almost died )... @ plantlover : That red dragon used to be soooo red all read and nothing else... but it starts to show green colours im not so sure why... a friend said that its caused by the lack of acidic property in the media.... what do you think ? |
Re: My 1 year old VFTs
Hi Bonsay,
Provide your VFTs with more intense and long hours of sunlight. Your red dragon will eventually become red. Another factor is the difference in day and night temperature. According to some info I got, if you can provide the difference of at least 10°C, they'll turn very red with efficient sunlight. Hope this help. |
Re: My 1 year old VFTs
Nice VFTs, are those droseras d.spathulata? All your VFTs look healthy, better than mine. Did you buy yours at a local nursery or a professional CP grower?
Cheers |
Re: My 1 year old VFTs
Oh, yeah, you have to burn those akai ryu of yours, they need more sunlight if you want them really red. Acidic content has nothing much to do with the plants reddishness. VFTs won't get sunburnt, they are very tolerant of extreme light, and like lots of sunlight.
Cheers |
Re: My 1 year old VFTs
Yup those are D.sphatulata, there are also byblis liniflora( spelling?) and D. indica there... Yup VFTs loves hot harsh sun i agree... oh btw they were bought from a local nursery :)
|
Re: My 1 year old VFTs
Oooh, now I see the byblis liniflora......looks young. Well, that proves that your local nurseries sell healthier CPs than in Malaysia. I bought a VFT from a local nursery here and had to transplant it into a fresh media of LFS. Its sufferin now, lost many leaves and already forming deformed traps. Any ideas how to fix the problems? I see you are quite good at taking care of dionaea muscipulas.......:2thumbup:

Re: My 1 year old VFTs
I bought a VFT from a nursery for RM 22. Lots of plants but very very small. They close so slowly. But now they are big and healthy and I sold most of them to my friends. I sold my extra ventratas and drosera too.(Collected about RM 48) Yes now I can buy a cephalotus.
