Re: Share your mirabilis
I only like mirabilis var echinostoma, for some reason everytime I see pics of mirabilis, they look really boring and fragile.

Re: Share your mirabilis
Come on Edward.... Eventhough N. mirabilis is quite common and wide spread, there's still some gems to be found... *biggrin2*
Here's some of my N. mirabilis collection.... :shy: http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._7428028_n.jpg http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._8022583_n.jpg http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._6375268_n.jpg http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-...2_394238_n.jpg |

Re: Share your mirabilis
Today when I first saw this thread, I was so eager to go back to snap some mirabilis to share it here……upon opening the back door……I was horrified to see that the mirabilis merah tip is GONE!! After searching for some while…. I only managed to find a single leave…the young shoot plus another 6 inch leave is missing…..the culprit is no other than those !@#$%^&* monkeys…..…..Robert, you still need a while to see if it’s a boy or a girl…..zzzzzzzzzzzzz
n. mirabilis green 'upper pitcher' http://i742.photobucket.com/albums/x...n/DSC01130.jpg n. mirabilis green http://i742.photobucket.com/albums/x...sgreenlip1.jpg n. mirabilis merah http://i742.photobucket.com/albums/x...abilisred1.jpg n. mirabilis merah 'old pitcher' http://i742.photobucket.com/albums/x...abilisred2.jpg n. mirabilis red 'upper pitcher' http://i742.photobucket.com/albums/x...abilisred3.jpg n. mirabilis http://i742.photobucket.com/albums/x...ilisredlip.jpg last but not least, n.mirabilis var globosa *biggrin2* http://i742.photobucket.com/albums/x...n/DSC01218.jpg the !@@#$%^&* monkeys http://i742.photobucket.com/albums/x...brokentip1.jpg http://i742.photobucket.com/albums/x...brokentip2.jpg http://i742.photobucket.com/albums/x...brokentip3.jpg the last developing upper....shall i cut 2 internodes for a new cutting now? http://i742.photobucket.com/albums/x...abilisred5.jpg |
Re: Share your mirabilis
Aiya.... Very sad to see that Kevyn but luckily still got "leftovers"... in no time you'll get a beautiful plants again. I think the monkeys really love the soft texture of mirabilis leaves and shoots... a bad thing if your place is overrun by them... :sweating:

Re: Share your mirabilis
Let's shine some spot light to this "common" N. mirabilis... I think it deserve a better publicity. *biggrin2*
N. mirabilis var globosa ver : Mini Me 1.0 *biggrin2* Note : pitcher stay mini size even with adult plant but at least the pitcher it's a nice round form  http://img685.imageshack.us/img685/5121/globosamini.jpg N. mirabilis (Variegated) Note : Typical pitcher http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/2...variegated.jpg http://img5.imageshack.us/img5/5522/miravariegated2.jpg I also find the wavy leaves form very interesting... seems to be a common sights among N. mirabilis and it's variants. N. mirabilis var enchinostoma (wavy leaves form) http://img85.imageshack.us/img85/553...vyenchinos.jpg N. mirabilis var globosa x ( globosa x rafflesiana) foilage http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._5648181_n.jpg So who say N. mirabilis is boring?? *biggrin2**biggrin2* |

i second that! maybe after looking at these beauties here....somebody must be slapping his forehead :spinning:..hahahha so robert, what is your almighty suggestion? to take cutting or not? if to wait for new shoot(s) the whole plant will stuck as "one" and start vining precariously on the joint because looking at the stem width, it would be a heck of weight for the plant to support... |
Re: Share your mirabilis
Didn't know that there are other nep species which produces wavy leaves under than maxima

Re: Share your mirabilis
Out of topic but enchino form should be a different species. Leaves are totally different and so are the pitcher shape and even the stems

Re: Share your mirabilis
More N. mirabilis.
N. mirabilis 'Kuraburi' http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c2...m/kuraburi.jpg Elongated Viking (N. mirabilis var. globosa) http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c2...im/vikinge.jpg |
