Factors Contirbute to Trap & Leaf Size
Hi, anyone can help me out with this.
Recently I notice my Akai Ryu has been producing new leafs, most noticebly the three as shown in pictures (clockwise direction: 1:00, 8:00 and 10:00) show relatively bigger leaf than the rest. And their traps are slightly a little smaller than those that are matured (the red ones). https://forum.petpitcher.net/picture....&pictureid=800 I didn't notice anything wrong though. No pest, no decay etc etc. It looks pretty healthy to me. I wonder what could make it this. Help :crying: This is how it looked like when I bought it back from Fauzi 3 weeks ago... https://forum.petpitcher.net/picture....&pictureid=799 |

Re: Factors Contirbute to Trap & Leaf Size
could it be an early symptom of it going to dormancy?

Re: Factors Contirbute to Trap & Leaf Size
I would suggest not enough light. Akai Ryu is essentially a red plant. In order to get this colour it needs strong light. As the leaves here are predominantly green and the petioles are quite large I think you need to increase the amount of light it receives.

Strangely enough, other VFTs don't seem to give me this phenomenon though  |
Re: Factors Contirbute to Trap & Leaf Size
Akai ryu need more light because the red colour blocks the sunlight?

Re: Factors Contirbute to Trap & Leaf Size
I think the reason is light too akai ryu, one healthy akai ryu show a lot of red colour and large leaf.

Factors Contirbute to Trap Leaf Size
Like Salvias leaves shrink if you only take the big ones? Is there a way to manipulate this for MORE overall leaf quantity? since that IS the point after all
