Hi Ken

The echinostoma, if I remember correctly, someone mentioned he had a hard time to get it to pitcher. (was it you) It seems to be giving you a lot of nice photos nowadays and it is very nice indeed. So how did you get it to pitcher well now?

caseyhoo 5th March 2010 03:21 PM

Re: Share ur neps for march

Those are nice pitchers shoot...

as I understand, echinostoma need high humidity to pitcher. Ken, what else we need to watch out?

Hey cj...Yeap i think im the one who said its hard to make it pitcher...But recently it has been doing well. Normall it'll make 1 pitcher den abort the next few leaves. But looks like for now the next leaf might pitcher too..
Casey...I really don't know as i myself dun really know what my conditions are like.

Thanks kit, it's not HUGE comapred to N. truncata, I suspect the pitcher can grow bigger in favourable weather with higher humidity. Right now it's just too hot and dry... :sweating:

Thanks David. Yup, the pitcher become more and more globose as it mature, with lovely stripped peristome and nice under lid markings. The wavy leaves also make this hybrid unique (from viking's trait). I'm lucky to be able to get this nep.

Thanks guys.

Ya, the N. mirabilis "Fat Boy" is special... I haven't seen other N. mirabilis from around this peninsular with such pitchers except from Southern Thailand. Maybe an evolutionary link to the N. mirabilis var globosa?? *biggrin2*
