Is my purpurea going dormant..?

I have read the other thread about sarracenia dormancy in the tropics, but still am a little unsure if my purpurea is going into dormancy, since it was mentioned that purps don't produce phyllodia.. I can see that the pitchers are growing smaller. Shall I put it through dry dormancy now..? Please advise.. TIA..

You should wait till your purpurea completely stops growth. As in no more new pitchers being made. Also, all the pitchers should be dying off. By the looks of your purpurea, you should prepare for the coming dormancy.

Cheers

Sarracenia purpurea does not produce any non pitcher leaves. When it goes dormant, all the pithcers just die of, Marvin.

The non pitcher leaves are called phyllodia.

Well my purpurea suddenly stop growing after treating it(Got infested with mealybugs). Then the pitchers slowly(as in very slowly) die off. I've cut all the leaves.

Edward, may I ask why you suggested that Paphioboy needs to prepare for dormancy? I am not sure what you guys are seeing that I am not, I unfortunately don't see anything wrong with his plant... in the photo. Please share. :)

Aaron what did you use to treat your Mealybug problem? I have a problem with mealybug on the leaves as well as scale insect, am not experimenting with sulfur powder, not yet sure if it is effective or not though.

Well I removed any mealybugs in sight. Then I submerge the plant in water.

What I meant, is that since his purpurea is making smaller pitchers, it may be possible that his purpurea will become dormant. I was just suggesting that paphioboy should be prepared in case his purpurea goes dormant. sorry if I typed wrongly and made you misunderstood.

Marvin, phyllodia looks like oval shaped leaves. Sarracenia flava, leucophllya, oreophila and rubra(not sure) makes phyllodia. The other species do not make phyllodia.

No lah, paphioboy, I am not a CP genius......

Cheers
