Nepenthes Rajah & Ephippiata Cultivation

Just want to ask whether how you guys grow your nepenthes rajah ,lowii and ephippiata.
Any special requirements?
I need answers for these questions:

1.How much sunlight do they need?
2.How low temperature it can tolerate and in what level they will stop producing pitchers?
3.Can i grow them in lowland condition by misting it with very cold water 3 times a day (morning, afternoon and night)?
4.How long will it take from recovering from stress?
5.What are the common problems that occurs when growing these plants?
6.How long will it take to produce a leaf and a fully developed pitcher?
I need advice......help!
Thank you!

wow Ali you so daring wanting to try. Anyway they are highland neps, except ephippiata which was more a H/L intermediate form, may have better chance growing in lowland conds.by providing cool environment. Lowii and rajah generally prefered windy night, day temp 26C humidity 60%, and night temp 12C and humidity 90%.

Not sure if anyone have tried misting with cold water daily but a room with aircond setting would be prefered.

Most neps will recover from stress in 4 weeks to 6 weeks, but again it all depend on local growing conds.

common problems that occurs when growing these plants- dried up, rot and death:laugh:

Thank you for the advice Robert.
Well i now know that ephippiata can tolerate lower temperature so
Nepenthes Ephippiata passes the test.
Need more advice on the other two please.
Anyone have tried?Any method?
Using air-cond..well i cant afford using air-cond.I prefer growing it with other plants.I do have 4 air-conds but how can i turn it on everyday(have to check the bills).

Re: Nepenthes Rajah & Ephippiata Cultivation

I've been growing ephippiata and lowii for just over a year now the ephippiata is pitchering on a regular basis, lowii is a bit slower but has been pitchering as well recently just killed off it's most recent two pitchers but so far the next one is looking positive and the new leaf is looking better than the rest.

I'll post pictures later...

I should add that our winter's maybe the best reason they are doing well, the summer's are still fairly harsh.

N. rajah can be grown in Air-con? I thought air-con makes the air dry? I can afford air-con bills but the plant......

Hi Alienfx,

Hope that the N.rajah is acclimatising well at your place. Please make sure that the media used is porous as this will give good aeration to the root system.

Do not overwater the plant.

Thanks

Fauzi
