N. Mirabilis ???
 

I discovered that a couple of what I was told were mirabilis that were given to me by a friend some time ago, have a different leaf veination than any others I have seen. Anybody recognize this? I'll add a picture of an upper from one of the other plants as well.

shawn, looking at the leaves and pitchers, i'm inclined to think your plants might be a hybrid of mirabilis and raff or maybe even mirabilis and x hookeriana.

If that's the case,you'll get a xCoccinea but these is green though1

Well now that you say yes you get a coccinea.....(which i wanna get one)...But coccineas are not green in colour.......

Ali, x Coccinea is a selected form of N. mirabilis x x hookeriana so not every single plant of the cross is N. mirablils x x hookeriana can be called a x Coccinea.

this is unlike the case where every N. raff x amp (or the reverse) are all N. x hookerianas (or mirablis x amp = x kuchingensis). It's slightly messy because in the 1800s, 1900s when new neps were being discovered and named, hybrids were also being made in greenhouses in europe then. so the naming the plants was not applied very consistently.

but to go back the shawn's plants, i think its more likely to be a hybrid of mirabilis and raff and a remote possibility of it being a mirabilis x x hookeriana because the 'teeth' and neck on the uppers shows a fair bit of raff traits.
