my princess
I called northiana "princess" cos we have the N rajah in North Borneo (Sabah ), Sarawak being in the south with this beautiful lowlander and the rightful contender to match many beautiful highlander and the size can be unmatch by many...so rightly entitled "princess"..well just my thought :D
I grow northiana in granulated clay and burnt clay in the beginning, later i tried and switched to 20% cocopeat and 80% perlite and also 20% cut up long sphagnum moss and 80% perlite. All work perfectly. Note northiana don't like to be wet, their foliages are rigid and more succulent than many lowlanders thus there is no need to water everday. currently it has 3 pitchers and 2 are about 4 inches in length. This pot was grown on sphagnum moss and perlite. http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z.../DSCN6906a.jpg http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z.../DSCN6911a.jpg http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z.../DSCN6907a.jpg http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z...u/DSCN6914.jpg http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z.../DSCN6904a.jpg http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z...u/DSCN6912.jpg http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z.../DSCN6908a.jpg http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z.../DSCN6909a.jpg |

Re: my princess
Nice.. :) Mine has some growing up to do before it gets to the size of your plant.. I think northiana really isn't that difficult to grow. takes some time to establish, but if given free draining media and bright sun, it grows very well.

Re: my princess
Your are killing me, Robert. This is the first time I ever seen such a size of N. northiana pitcher in cultivation.@@
What is your trick beside the growing media? I should try it with your media mix to see if I can get that pitcher size. Thanks for sharing. :sweating: |
