I just got home from Penang, and after checking on my seedlings, the next thing is checking on our forum! I just want to say a HUGE thank you to all the forum members that made this such a fantastic trip for me! THANK YOU! It was great to finally put faces together with the names and a joy to meet so many enthusiastic CP growers.

I'd urge anyone who has not been to the exhibition yet to try to make it. You will be amazed at the quality, quantity and diversity of the plants being shown. Eric's display and sales area across the street will blow you away and there are many other sellers that have CP's on offer, not to mention orchids, fruit trees and just about any other kind of plant you might be looking for! I even found a green Jade vine, the miracle fruit we have been discussing, a variegated grapefruit (including the fruit itself!) and on and on! The hiking, only moments away from the exhibits is a great chance to see Neps (albo's) in their natural habitat and the food never ends!

In 5 1/2 days I managed to shoot over 800 photos! It'll take me a while to sort through them but I'll try to post when I get caught up around here. I also have to commend all the forum participants for their untiring efforts at both making sure that the exhibition was such a great success and that their guests had such a wonderful and memorable time! Congratulations guys! You put on a show that Penang will not soon forget! By the way, today on my way out of town I saw a Chinese language newspaper with a story on the CP Exhibition with a photo! (I'll post it at a later date)

I can't say it enough; THANK YOU! :1thumbup::1thumbup::1thumbup:

Shawn,

Hope the flight back was as good as the one you took to Penang. How's them seedlings? The rest of the garden?

It was truly wonderful having everyone down here in Penang. And never in my wildest dreams I imagine I'll be doing those things I did on the fieldtrips! Talk about being neps. crazy! Thank you very much Ban Aik for taking us all over the island and to some parts of the mainland too & everyone else who paced themselves to help me keep up

I learned so much in those 4 days and I think I'm getting my groove back, so no more neglecting my plants! Thanks Shawn for all the ideas & tips, yeah I know, plant-mad people think alike!

Dr. Clark & Ch'ien Lee was truly a gem, very down to earth. They were so patience answering our non-stop questions, eventhough some of them were downright silly (from yours truly of course )

I had a great time, rain and everything - even forgetting the lung infection that was not completely cured (though surprising the moment I get home I was hacking, coughing like I was choked!)

LETS DO IT AGAIN SOON!

Re: CPs exhibition and competition in Penang Floral Fest 2008??

It was encouraging to see Shawn and Murevarn who travelled so far for this event. Of course for all other members from Malaysia and in Penang who came to support and help out in anyway. You guys/gals know how you are.

I think we must specially give credit and thanks to Lim (picesilim) and Ban Aik (bactrus) who volunteered to help out in so many way.

Lim is there now and everyday until Sunday just to make sure all the plants are taken care off and to answer question from the public about CPs. He was also there before the competition to help out and make sure everything is in order. I am impress by Lim's dedication and responsibility he takes on himself just to make sure everything goes well.

Ban Aik is helping him and he purposely took leave last Thursday and Friday just to take care of me and our guests. So he was running to and from the hotel and competition site like a headless chicken, and being our tour guide to see wild albomarginata in Penang. Ban Aik's hospitality as a host is second to none and for that I am truely grateful. I must thank your wife and baby for kidnapping you from them in the last couple of days. He is on half day leave again today to take shift with Lim and together they help watch the plants and answer questions that the public might have on CPs.

Last but not least, to eric (monkeycup) who is the member of the organising committee for making this event happen. He's the man!

So, please if you can make it, go and see the plants say hi to them.

Haa, haaa, Athene! I was also a little worried by all the questions all of us threw at Dr. Charles and Ch'ien during the talks, dinners and outings... but like you said they were so patient and answered every one of them.

Dr. Charles mentioned to me that he is thinking of carrying out an experiment with regards to mosquito larvae living in pitcher fluid. Remember the question you asked him with regards to mosquito larvae in amps pitchers? He'll like to involve us by asking us to lend him some of our plants for this experiment. I'll post the details or PM a few of you to see if you want to lend your plants when he confirms with me.

Also Ch'ien is organising a trip to see Nepenthes in the wild in Borneo in May or March next year. It'll be a 2-week trip that will cover alot of species and locations. Limited space. So please look out for the announcement here or log on to his website for updates.
