Re: Nepenthes Rajah Cultivation

Hi everyone

Now just a question........I bought a packet of peat moss and LFS yesterday so now i have 3 different types of media i can use for any of my neps....I might just turn the rajah pot over and put it in a bigger pot...So which of these 3 medias should i use more or less? Is peat moss good for a well drain media? I know perlite is...I was actually just thinking of LFS and perlite thats all but since i bought peat moss was just thinking on using it.

Re: Nepenthes Rajah Cultivation

Hi Everyone

Well received my N rajah today afternoon!!!!!!!!!......Came in good conditions with one tiny pitcher and one forming.....Well was kinda weird caused when i opened the first box came another box and after unraping everything from the 2nd box inside came ANOTHER BOX...Then after i unwrap that it was that paper thing people use to reduce impact on furnitures and stuff which is covering the plant...After unwrapping that the plant was covered with a cup which was stick to it....And after i opened that there were ome stuff covering the media (which i have no idea why) and until all those that i got my first glimpse of N rajah :D...Thanks Fauzi BTW.....Talk about safety. And Aaron yeah it came in LFS.

Re: Nepenthes Rajah Cultivation

Erm, i think Fauzi potted your rajah in coco chips. Best not to repot, that way your rajah will adapt faster and since it is doing well. You could put some LFS on the surface to cover the coco chips and also you may put some living sphagnum moss on it.

Do take photos. I wanna see. Mine is going to make a new leaf after waiting soooo long and a new pitcher and an unconfirmed new pitcher.

Hi Edward

I'm not sure of the media but im absoulutely sure that the toping is LFS.....Maybe the cocochips are inside.....I didn't wanna repot it so fast just to be safe.Anyways mine is like the smallest among yours lol.

Hi everyone

Just to tell that i have turn the pot over and repotted the rajah into a bigger and taller pot.....Well the normal size ones....So pratically now its in cocochips,LFS and perlite but the maine media in the middle is cocochips and LFS as a toping.

Re: Nepenthes Rajah Cultivation

I asked Fauzi to repot mine in a bigger pot. Mine is in pure coco chips and is doing really fine for the moment. I put LFS as topping. Any pictures?

Re: Nepenthes Rajah Cultivation

Just wondering how are all of your N.rajah doing and did you change any of your condition? Feel intriguing that N.rajah can grow in LL.

Re: Nepenthes Rajah Cultivation

I think i can safely say its just not a plant suited for lowland and should be grown in colder climates.

jimmy0123 20th February 2011 10:25 PM

Re: Nepenthes Rajah Cultivation

Hmmm... can it still survive and produce leave although without pitcher?

kentosaurs 21st February 2011 03:00 PM

Re: Nepenthes Rajah Cultivation

I don't think so cause as it grows older it will need colder conditions. Mine slowly burn out after a few months....Also why grow a pitcher plant which wouldn't pitcher?

edwardyeeks 21st February 2011 05:19 PM

Re: Nepenthes Rajah Cultivation

Humidity is most important. And I believe N. Rajah can survive in intermediate and pitcher also. Fauzi's nursery is intermediate in temperature and he can grow n. Rajah. Humidity......that's the important factor for all highland neps
