Apple tree

2 Attachment(s)
My ampullaria had recently grow it's pitchers on the stem, it looked like a bunch of apples on the tree. The newly grown pitchers are getting bigger and bigger.

This are the basals formed at the base.

TS, you have just convinced me to leave my ampullaria alone and not cut down the main vine as a cutting.

Nice plants you have got there.I have seen in the wild the vines which on the soil have pitchers which look like basels.

Thanks everybody, glad that you all like this amp too.
I remembered I have seen once Robert posted a ampullaria picture from the wild which grow like this, of course with very much bigger "apples" then mine.

Hi

TS when the basal's continue to grow and cover the whole pot,how to water it i always have a thought that when amp basal covers the pot the water that you water it wouldn't reach it's roots.
BTW nice amps :p

Hi Ken, what made you feel water wouldn't reach the root when basals cover the whole pot? No matter how cram the pitchers are, there will definitely still some space among the pitchers, water will still flow down to the roots. Don't worry. :2thumbup:

Re: Apple tree

TS , i`ve seen these hanging `apples` in the wild but never in cultivation. Congrats. I can`t wait for mine to form mid-air pitchers like yours.

Re: Apple tree

Well i guess you're right,i myself have trouble making my hooker pitcher on its main stem.It only makes pitchers at its basal shoots.I almost got a amp for my 1st nep but i saw it dying and decided not to get it.I'll try making my hooker thrive before i try on an amp
