Hi Edward

According to those which i have found from the internet D royal red first of all has elevated leaves which doesn't stay on the ground they are all erected. They also have Green margins and red inner surfaces on the trap.

Akai Ryu has much smaller and shorter leaves and the leaves don't stand instead it stays on the media.Akai ryu also has redder traps then D.Royal Red some are almost completly red while Royal red is probally maybe around 70-80% red something like that.

They're pretty hard to tell apart as far as I can tell. I wrote a summary of all of the registered cultivars here:
http://www.flytrapcare.com/venus-fly...iety-list.html

The 'Holland Red', 'Royal Red', 'Green Dragon' and 'Akai Ryu' are all very similar. Of the red registered cultivars, I grow Akai Ryu, Green Dragon and Red Piranha. I can't really tell the difference between Akai Ryu and Green Dragon.

I can't comment on the other variety/cultivars, but my Royal reds actually do exactly what Ken mentioned, they usually grow their leaves up high, and they are not fully red. I think that the term for the ground hogging leaves are rosettes? I hope someone corrects me there if it's wrong.

Loved the link flytrapcare!

So which one are you going to get? :)

I think that Akai Ryus are a bit more expensive aren't they?

I have a few Royals myself, but didn't get an Akai ryu coz of the cost.

Hi Varhoon

I don't really get what you mean but if you're asking if he sells that than yes he does.

Yes, Varhoon, Fauzi sells akai ryu, but I don't think he sells royal red. He also has sawtooth, though I think you have already.

Cheers
