question on n. maxima
after doing some search, was wondering if n. maxima is a purebreed nepenthes or a hybrid, where can I find one or does any forumer happens to have extra to let go?
|
Re: question on n. maxima
N. maxima is a nep species and it was used extensively to make nep hybrids.... so it's more common to see N. maxima hybrids than N. maxima species.

Re: question on n. maxima
Dear Sifu,
Do N. maxima is LL? Pls advice Thank you |
Re: question on n. maxima
Most N. maxima are considered intermediate (some are HL only) but can adapt to LL condition without much trouble... this is one of the reason why N. maxima is popular for making hybrids.

Re: question on n. maxima
oh, thanks nepnut for the info, no wonder I've never come across pure breed maxima but all sort of hybrid involving it, may I know how to identify n. maxima from other nep that are resulted from it's hybrid?
Thanks a lot:smile: |
Re: question on n. maxima
Most pure N. maxima will have an appendage (tounge) hanging in front of the lid. Some hybrids involving N. maxima might show this trait as well.
Some hybrids that involved back cross with N. maxima are even harder to tell if it's pure N. maxima... :spinning: |
Re: question on n. maxima
thanks robert for the info...this is a total disaster, seems like n. maxima is very near to sharing the same faith as betta splenden a.k.a. fighting fish...got to source some pure breed stuff...
any one has any recommendation on where to source for reliable one? tq |
Re: question on n. maxima
just got 2 n. maxima from fauzi just now, was wondering if any one can share some information about this species as in medium(soggy vs airy), sunlight and others...
thanks |
Re: question on n. maxima
Shouldn't be hard to grow...Just normal mix i guess....Slightly airier than a lowland nep mix..N miranda is almost fully made out of maxima anyway
