HAPPY FATHER's Day to all the dads.

Look what I got ...... a 1 kg Cadbury bar.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...n08/dad713.jpg

My favourite - N. eymae. Nothing spectacular. But when I got this plant 5 years ago from wistuba, it was a puny weak 2 inch plant. It is the only survivor from my order from Wistuba. It now has 6 pitchers, with the largest 7cm long.

Flowering N. adrianii enjoying a good view

Close-up of N. adrianii (10cm)

The sanguinea twins (11cm)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...nguinea722.jpg

N. tobaica is really under rated. I only got this plant in February form MT and it has given me 6 pitchers. The pitcher start as red, then to burgundy and end up purple black.

The largest tobaica pitcher - 7cm

Also doing very well is N. fusca Sarawak from Fauzi/BE (Aug 2007)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...scasara724.jpg

Another plant from Fauzi/BE - N. mira (Feb 2008)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...08/mira726.jpg

N. gracilima (?)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...acilima745.jpg

N. ramispina - nice healthy leaves
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...spina737-1.jpg

Finally, my highlanders setup. Plants are placed on 4-tiers chromed racks mounted on wheels. Direct morning sun from 8:00 am - 12 noon and bright filtered lights till about 19:00. Supplemented with 4 super T5 lights (aquarium - 2 blues and 2 whites). A samsung humidifier provides humidity between 90% - 70%. A small clip-on fan to provide air circulation. Sitting on the lowest rack is a customed made acrylic tray to collect water droppings. By mounting the racks on wheels, I can push the plants into my bed room at night to let them enjoy temperature drop of 18°C.

So far all the highlanders and intermediates are doing very well with nice healthy leaves. N. lowii is pitchering soon. The problem is what am i going to do when they grow up!!!!

wow, the choco bar was a special order.

Problem first was to get the H/L to grow and worry later. I'm sure you already have many alternative waiting to be tested for them. Nice and healthy plants. Thanks for sharing, choong http://s3.images.proboards.com/cool.gif

Well Robert, constructing a coolhouse for highland nepenthes and orchids is my dream. But having a college going daughter meant that money is spent on education.

Yes, the chocolate bar is imported from England. I was really impressed by the present from my children. They had asked their cousin to get for them. I guess this is one of the joy of parenthood.

Dom,

The rack is placed at the living room east facing window. The air con is on when my children are in -- during the holidays and weekends. When the air-con is on the day temp is about 25°C, otherwise it is around 28°C.

Aliamyz,
You can see the lowii plant at the N. ramispina photo. It is right at the end with alot of sphagnum moss. Lowii is one of the few plants with thriving sphagnum moss. I will show you the plant when the pitcher opens. Right now the pitcher is only a 1 cm blob.

Hi Choong:

Nice collection indeed. and belated happy father's day. I am interested to know what is the origin of your gracillima?. Very rare plant in cultivation.

Cheers,

Gus

Hi Gus,

Nice to see you are in this forum too. I am not sure this is a gracillima. The pitcher is bulbous at the bottom. The plant is still very young. So it may be ramispina yet. It comes from Genting Highlands.
