glabrata seedlings pics
Some pics of my N. glabrata seedlings.
They are less then a year old, not exactly sure when they germinated. The conditions are floro lights, temps 55F/12C night 75F/24C day, and humidity 55% day 90% night. Only fertilized 2 times with maxsea + urea free orchid ferts. Peace, Zero Sorry for the poor colors and focus, I don't have a very good setup for pics here right now. glabrata http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u.../glabrata1.jpg http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u.../glabrata2.jpg http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u.../glabrata3.jpg http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u.../glabrata4.jpg http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u.../glabrata5.jpg http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u.../glabrata6.jpg peace, Zero |

Re: glabrata seedlings pics
Thanks for sharing those nice pictures. So,you apply the fertilizer on the media,on the leaf or to the pitcher?Sometimes i use syringe to apply some fertilizer to the pitchers.

Re: glabrata seedlings pics
Which fertilizing method is the best for nepenthes?
|
Re: glabrata seedlings pics
Yeah I'm curious as well as alien ans timeeve

Re: glabrata seedlings pics
i dispense fertalizer in pitchers;some ppl mist with a foliar feed to the leaves, but putting it in pitchers i feel is efficient =)
|
Re: glabrata seedlings pics
oh yeah, i use an organic base fertalizer, which looks like gravel, but smaller. organic feralizers wont burn the plant if you accidentally over do it, just a bigger meal. i use the tube of a pen, cap it with a finger, and put the fertalizer in pen. then i look for the pitcher i feed and tip the pen the other way, end thats opened, and dispense

Re: glabrata seedlings pics
for baby pitchers i hand feed them the pellets lol
|
Re: glabrata seedlings pics
Won't you break the pitchers?
|
Re: glabrata seedlings pics
oooooh nu,lol. most of pellets are very very small, like chunky sand. lol with baby villosa, i had to use a tooth pick to poke the pellet down its mouth cuz of the teeth, it doesnt hurt them at all. dont think you would want to force it though, if dont fit, dont stretch it!lol

Re: glabrata seedlings pics
Some article saying about using fish emulsion.. Hv anyone try it before?
|
Re: glabrata seedlings pics
hmmm..never have, but this fertilizer i use is made from crushed shellfish, condensed hydrolyzed fish, fish bone meal, feather meal, alfalfa meal, sulfate of potash magnesia, calcium sulfate, and sulfate of potash, with organic nitrogen. I would try it out. How about fish eggs?? I would like to try that

Re: glabrata seedlings pics
I've used fish emulsion for several years with good results, even put it into the pitchers and sprayed the Dros and Pings with it; just remember to flush out the pots after each feeding to prevent any build-up of things that could cause problems. These days I've been using a synthetic fertilizer which has no urea, and is high in phosphates which is supposed to encourage flowers; it also has a lot of trace minerals including iron and magnesium. - Rich

Re: glabrata seedlings pics
fish emulsion is good but smelly for a day or two.
I use urea free orchid fert and maxsea now at 1/4 strengh root feeding. Flushed 24hrs later. |
