Just a couple of pics

N. eustachya from MT. I feel that this species is underrated. Especially now that I know it colours up so nicely in bright light. Even the tendril is red.

N. campanulata grown in burnt earth. Newest leaf is somehow rounder. The leaf shown here is 4.5cm and the pitcher is 3cm excluding the lid. :1thumbup:

N. truncata 'Pasian' - didn't like the heat and produced much smaller leaves, the latest pitcher is quite large though

My truncata is having the same problem as yours Cindy. You can see the lid and the pitcher have contraction between them. What causes it??or it's normal after stress??

Cindy,
Nice eustachya, did your plant get few hous of direct sunlight or just in bright shade? I hope mine will turn out like yours...
Am I right to assume the red coloration on eustachya won't get bleach by direct sunlight??
Looks like campanulata dont mind the mineral salt built up at all after all this time, cool !!

Hi Cindy

Nice plants i love your N.eustachya nice red colouration must be getting a lot of sunlight.Anyway why would u say that the N truncata doesn't like the heat????Since i and u stay in the same enviroment i grow mine in my balcony too and its fine with the heat and even produced and opened its 1st pitcher about 6.5" tall has a nice lime green flared peristrome but probally its gonna fold back and turn bronze like most of the truncata i see.Hi Ali i think the pitcher is deformed or something maybe you damaged it while u were moving it around thats just my opinion.

Truncata have both lowland and highland form Ken.
Cindy's one is HL and don't like heat so much.I wasn't moving it around..!!

Hi Ali,

I know cindy's 1 is a highland and i also know N truncata has HL and LL type.....I thought cindy only grew LLders.

A lot of speculation going on here.

Ken and Ali, I grow all sorts of Neps but mostly lowlands and species. The truncata is a highland form and when it came it was put together with my lowland plants. It didn't quite like the sudden drop in humidity and rise in temperature. Many of the S'poreans have this form from BE too but I think their plants are doing much better in more constant humidity. The pitcher is slightly deformed probably because of my irregular watering. The plant is in one of my rooms and I sometimes forget about it.

cpnut, the eustachya is in a bright spot without direct sunlight. I have not tried growing it in a place with direct sunlight before but I think it will only bring out a brighter red. It isn't obvious in the photos but one side of the pitcher is more red...the side facing the direction where the light comes into my balcony.

Cindy,
Thanks for the feedback, I'll try to grow my eustachya under a few hours of direct sunlight daily and see what happen...
