You'll probably ended up with a pot of algae rather then VFT plantlet. :2thumbup: Place the pot in a bright place outside do better. |
Re: HORROR CP STORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ken, the instruction was to keep the leaf cuttings in a BRIGHT area, not shaded.
Bright area = anywhere which does not get direct sunlite but it is still bright, but not dark or shaded. I do not recommend the bathroom. I think if I was the vft leaf cutting, I`ll probably decide not to grow. |
Re: HORROR CP STORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope your plant recovers quickly. Its so brave to suicide but failed!Hahaha!!

Re: HORROR CP STORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
VFT Rhizome cuttings, same as leaf cutting conditions I think.
Ken, umm you should have learned your lesson the first time right? Or at least figured out a way to prevent it from happening again. Did you ever find out what really caused the suicidal plants from falling? (i'm not talking about why they want to commit suicide) but how they are able to move their pots over the edge. I too have a lot of plants lined up on our balcony/terrrace, but so far I have only suffered 1 pot that fell, a nepenthes cutting which flew away (literally) during a typhoon. After that, all the pots that are light goes to the floor during typhoons. I imagine and hope that your sarracenias should be fine though, well aside from maybe some damaged pitchers. TTFN Arvin |
Re: HORROR CP STORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Arvin,
Well the 1st VFT was actually my fault it didn't happen naturally i accidently moved it over the edge. But for my sarrcenia it fell down by itself because of the strong winds during a thunderstrom that day and during that time my VFT cup/tray under it wasn't filled with water so it was quite light..And yes my sarrcenias are fine i already put it in a proper pot same to my VFT...but my cuttings are still in the tray and still healthy but one is starting to darken... The typhoon that hit your place must be very very strong to blow your pot away....And somehow all my plants drop all the way down and never to my balcony.... Ken |
Re: HORROR CP STORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah Sarracenias will have more windage than VFT what with all those pitchers. :)
The flying Alata cutting (consider that Alatas are considered the Winged nepenthes so maybe they do fly) flew away coz it was new and not yet rooted, also the problem is that the pot was only filled with cocopeat so very light, I have started putting some pumice rocks for weight :) Good to know your Sarras are okay, maybe the flute shaped pitchers slowed down the fall (like parachutes).
