Re: D. binata - needs advice
My D. binata got 10 leaf points now. I think it might be the real D. binata var. multifida f. extrema. You can call it D. binata var. multifida at the moment. Wait for it to grow larger. We will know whether it is extrema or not.

Noted. What is the different between D. binata var. multifida f. extrema and D. binata var. multifida? The leaf only change when the plant was mature or just some leaf have the different? :shy: Pls advice Thank you |
Re: D. binata - needs advice
According to Barry Rice, D. binata var. multifida has 8-16 leaf points. However, D. binata var. multifida f. extrema has 16-40+ leaf points.

Re: D. binata - needs advice
Dear piscesilim,
Noted. Meaning that I still needs to wait for it to confirm this plant is under which one. But as now, the leaf only have 2 leaf point. It's normal? Why not all leaf have more than 2 leaf point? |
Re: D. binata - needs advice
Normally, at young age, drosera binata will split into two. As it matures, it may split up to three or even four. My drosera binata did that before. And don't worry, it doesn't harm your plant

Re: D. binata - needs advice
Dear edwardyeeks,
Meaning my D.binata still yong? |
Re: D. binata - needs advice
Your drosera is how old? I think that if it is given good growing conditions and as it matures, it will branch into more than two tentacles.
|
Re: D. binata - needs advice
It's about 2 mouths with me. May be still young.
|
Re: D. binata - needs advice
Lim, I just know how to differentiate them!!!! thanx...
Edward, you are right, the plant need time to get "branches leaf". It start with 2 branch. At my house, maximum that I got is just 6 branches per leaf... |
Re: D. binata - needs advice
Dear caseyhoo,
How long you start to get 6 points? Do all will be 6 points or just some? |
Re: D. binata - needs advice
How long you start to get 6 points?
>> Tan, sorry, I dont think I have the answer for that... Because I dont know how old it is... Do all will be 6 points or just some? >> Need to double check whethr I still got 6 points old plant at my garden :crying: |
Re: D. binata - needs advice
According to McPherson (2009), the petioles of the leaves of D. binata var. multifida f. extrema can reach lengths of up to 100 cm. Lamina may have a total diameter of up to 35 cm.
Wait and see if my plants can grow to that size. I guess all the D. binata that circulated among local hobbyist are the same clone. I get my plant from a Singapore grower which is originated from Triffid Park. Pherson (2009) |

16 points now! It can consider as D. binata var. multifida now. Still need to wait and see if it can produce more leaf points. Then only we can confirm whether it is f. extrema or not. |
Re: D. binata - needs advice

Re: D. binata - needs advice
Morning till evening.
This strain has weak petioles and the leaves tend to droop when become older. I have another strain which has more erect foliage. |
