beside hiking, i went snorkeling at tunku abdul rahman park as well and stayed one nite at pine resort after hiking, which is few km near to KK park. total i spend 6d5n there, spending about 2k for whole trip.
few things not included are: hiking shoes, gloves, thick jacket, etc..

i strongly recommend budget lodge if you wish to save $, there are many many nice budget lodge at KK town. That will save you few hundreds RM
