I am not from your area, but you might also want to check out pet stores that sells reptiles, I found some hygro/thermometers in a reptile pet store in my area. I am not sure if they are waterproof and such, but you can always find ways to make them waterproof if you need them outdoors.

good luck!

You can try Ace Hardware. They have a very good one from Germany going for about RM50 over. Or like Arvin said, try out reptile pet shops. I got a fer from Pet Safari in Ikano Power Centre.

Re: Hygrometer-Thermometer

Guys.. went over to Ace at ikano... they had no idea what i was talking about ... looked myself but only managed to find the regular thermormeters. Then went up to Pet Safari and all they had was a digital one for like a reptile tank.

Anyone got more suggestions..?

How about other pet shop. This seem to be a very frequent question asked here. I am not from KL, maybe KL folks want to post "Where to get what" thread. Maybe include how much so can compare prices.

Re: Hygrometer-Thermometer

Have not tried any other pet stores yet... but the one at Ikano only had a digital one .. which does not tell the temperature. Would like to get one that does both.

Re: Hygrometer-Thermometer

besides pet shops, try shops that sell scientific products they have many range of choices but a small one which i attached here was good enough.

Its size - thickness 1.5cm x ht 4cm x length 5cm

Re: Hygrometer-Thermometer

Well i didn't see anything like that at Ace in Ikano, did you get it from the Ikano one? and which section was it in?

Asking the sales ppl there was useless as they had no idea what i was talking about let along trying to explain to them what i wanted.

oh nice looking plants by the way..

You can get this at Ace in Mid Valley Megamall in KL. It is placed on the shelfs somewhere infront the main entrance. This was some time ago, so they may have shifted them inside.

If not just go to PetSafari in the reptile shop. They will know what you are talking about. I've bought the thermometer and hygrometer in the picture below from PetSafari before:

Hover your computer mouse over this picture of click on it for a larger view.

Re: Hygrometer-Thermometer

Hey Marvin,

Are you referring to the Pet Safari in Ikano? I was there and the only Hygrometer they had there was a digital one that you stick in the walls of a reptile tank.

I would have got that but it does not tell the temp. Of course this was last week when i was there.

More inclined to get an analog one like the one David has in the picture.

Ok an update on my search for a Hygrometer. Found one at Jaya DIY which is now in seksyen 17, Petaling Jaya.

Details:
Brand is TFA.
Made in Germany.
Size 7cm by 11cm by 2cm.
Power is a single AAA batt.
Features are Temp, Humidity and auto record of Max and Min of both.
Price was RM 60.. if i remember correctly.

Picture attached.

But beware: This one is a warranty claim unit as the LCD display of the first one i got only lasted for 2 weeks. Good news is that when i took it back they gave me a new one .. (after over a month though). Hope this one last.

You can find the TFA brand in Ace hardware too but last time i checked they did not have this model there. (only the one David has - see his picture in earlier reply)

If you need directions to Jaya DIY just let me know.... quite simple to get there as long as you know the sprint highway and eastin hotel in PJ.

Would you be able to give us the directions. This shop, since it moved, I've lost contact. They have many nice stuffs for DIY which you can't find anywhere else.

Regards
cj

OK.. the address is now No 49, Jalan 17/21 (seksyen 17 PJ). Tel:03-79540509.

Easiest (but not necessary the shortest) explained directions there is to get to Eastin Hotel in PJ that is on Jalan Damansara(toll free road on the left of the toll road). With Eastin hotel on your left continue straight and at the second traffic lights (shell also on the left) turn left. The shop is on your right about 300m up.

But here is an update on the hygrometer.. it died on me again... either its me .. or its a really bad product.

Just took it back in exchange for the non electronic one instead which is quite similar to the one David has. Pic in the attachment.

This one is just temp and humidity in dial display but is HG free. Suppose to be made in Germany as appose to the other one that was made in China.

'all roads lead to a conventional hygrometer'......:spinning:
