Re: My truncata is not doing well!!!
Ok guys,
I've repot it with 50% cocopeat 10% charcoal and 40% of sphagum moss for truncata and place it where it will receive evening sunlight at about 3 to 7p.m. I've cut all the pitchers and small leaves. Not all but some, still have 4 leaves and 1 pitcher.Anything i should do next..like the water amount? |
Re: My truncata is not doing well!!!
Hi Ali
Hey so did u check the media when u repotted it any bugs mealy bug...worms?????Most of my media has somesort of bug in it and i realise ants the like to go near neps for me.Now my truncata has already recovered from adpating and transplant shock. Now having one cacated leaf and 4 normal leaves 1 pitcher and 1 more growing.Mine get sunlight the whole day from morning till night im not sure how to help but i water my plants everyday and spray them 2 times a day.Hope your truncata will do well Ken |
Re: My truncata is not doing well!!!
Don't use too big pot, size just enough compared with the roots, as truncata like to grow in a compact (small) pot.

Re: My truncata is not doing well!!!
What is the relationship between the size of the pot and the effect to the plants?
|
Re: My truncata is not doing well!!!
Logically, the plants roots are functioning as support and receptors of the food for the whole plant also as excess food storage for later used.
By 'support' means the roots are the anchor for the plant, so with newly planted plants at first the plants are shaky because the roots still not grabing the media yet, and over time they will eventually growing when roots sits well in the media (sorry for the wording used, hope you can understand), so the bigger the pot the longer it takes the roots to settle, that is why we have to do regular repotting for the growing plant, as the roots will eventually overgrown the pot. Arrgghh... sorry just quite hard to put into wording  Ed |
Re: My truncata is not doing well!!!
OoOoOoO i didn't know the size of a pot can actually affect the plant. How do you guys measure pots annyway???I don't think neps need a big pot at all no matter what size it is because neps has very small rooting systems i've seen a truncata root its pretty small for the plant, but the exceptions are some neps do have big rooting systems for example N bicalcarata for all i know

Re: My truncata is not doing well!!!
Yes Ken,
Nepenthes do have small root systems and what i thought is that if we pot it in a bigger pot, no need to repot it again for a few years to come.Come to think bout it,i'm in a lack of space and have to give up on my cactus collections to continue growing nepenthes in my balcony. We measure the length of the pot by inches.I've count the age of my truncata by counting it's leaves.1 month = 1 leaf,10 leaves = 10 months. My truncata is 10 months old. Some like rajah, bicalcarata etc, must have bigger pot! Thanx Wijaya. |
