Highland veitchii's varieties
 

In some the pitcher's coloration are similar, the only differences are their size and peristome - flare, folded backward, long and narrow.

In the normal green form its matured pitcher display brownish red peristome as in #8.

Wow. Nice. I've always liked this varieties but it seems that the ones common in cultivation does not represent the beauty of this species. Where are they from? Bareo?

Seems like they grown on grown and not trees. What are the substrate they are growing in?

The last picture? Are those Batu Lawi varieties?

substrates are sandy, peat and dead leaves. They're refered to as Bario's form but in actual fact found in outlying area. Alot of walking one way can take 1 hr, 2hrs or more. The last was Batu Lawi form but the colours are common among lowlanders except the later have longer and narrower pitcher.

In the last picture, are all the pitcher shape the same on the whole plant or is that an upper pitcher? I love the shape and ladders. The ladders looks like sp. viking upper ladders. Lovely! Actually do veitchii have upper pitchers? can't recall.

I really like the pitcher on the third picture. The teal/green peristome with bright red strips is really spectacular. Pitcher is also so round and stout.

I love your pics, specially the third one :spinning:. Can I know the temperature where veitchii H/L grow. Another question is that veitchii grow in dry condition ? Btw thank for share those pics *biggrin2*

David, it was an intermediate pitcher. The whole plant display the same shape, photo attached.

minh, the humidity at night 99%, temp 14°C. Attached show temp/humidity taken about 7.00am where temp have already risen to 19°C

where they grow the ground is very well drain, air is always cool and moist.

Wow... 99% humidity is like in my terrarium. Gonna be hard to replicate this outdoors. Surprise to know that they are terrestrial. I've always under the impression that this is a epiphyte.

BTW. MT have this as a variety(Bareo). However, heard that it is not the best representation of this species. Anyone have the one from MT for comparison?...

Fortunately, according the wikipedia, this species is still not under threat (hopefully nowhere in future).

Robert, more newbie questions. I am city boy. ;-) Is this place hard to get to. I mean Batu Lawi and Bareo area. Far from Kuching? These pitchers would be a very nice photography subject, if ever I get to go to East Malaysia.
