Banana!

Bought this today! The tag says it's a zebrina, but several experts have told me it's a dwarf cavendish. Which is fine by me, that means it might grow fruit!

I love to eat bananas. So common in Malaysia. Hope it grows fruits for you.

I hope so too. But it will be a long, long time before it will, if it's going to.

It's sad because there are so many different kinds of bananas in the world, but only one kind that you can get in America. I really want to try some of the other kinds, but they're nearly impossible to find.

since it was dwarf that mean you have no problem growing it indoor. The brown streak on the leaves are similar to the wild found in our lowland forest. we have some in the uncultivated land that look similar though they are not the same.

Spark, reduce the number of growing tubers. General rule of thumb is Grandmother (the oldest and will fruit for you soon), Mother (mid size to replace grandmother) and Daughter (Future Mother then Grandmother). At this stage reduce to one, so you'll get good size crop. Dig out the remaining tubers and plant them in another 2 pots.

FYI, banana only fruit once.

Already separated them so there's just one in this pot last week. :)

Re: Banana!

Would you like to have fertiliser recomendation? This plant is very fertiliser intensive. Lots of potash needed otherwise your soil will be depleted.

Well, I don't know if whatever specific fertilizers you're using over there are available here... I don't have compost or anything like that, whatever I used I have to buy. But I wouldn't mind a recommendation.
