Re: MAHA 2008
Just some updates. It was a fun outing. However, for those who have not gone to MAHA, only YG Park stall is selling CPs. The rest are selling herbs, orchids and tills.
It was a pleasant surprise to see Juliana of Malesiana Tropicals at YG Park booth. Could not recognise her at the beginning until she asked me if I am David. She is here to help educate the public on the cultivation of Nepenthes and to correct the wrong perception the public has about growing Nepenthes. MT will be bringing more and more Nepenthes into the Malaysian nursery market through YG Park. YG Park boss was also there. It was nice to meet up with her again. I don't think so she recognise me. The last time I saw her was a couple of years back. Went up Cameron Highlands to get Nepenthes from them quite often. Her hubby was not there tho. Will follow-up with some pictures from my camera later. |

I echo David`s post & will adda few things in.
I went with David & Edmund on Sat. On Sun, I went again. heheh. MsCheong from YG ( the boss wife or also the boss lah ) says they might bring down rooted cephalotus in the next 3 days or so. These are small cephs but they are rooted. She can`t confirm the price yet but it`ll be good for those of you who might to try. If you are looking for a sugar alternative, some stalls are selling Stevia which is a herb & the leaves taste like sugar. I bought these 2 sarras from YG : Attachment 145 Attachment 146 Attachment 147 |

Found this material that I thought might be used to grow Nepenthes. It is taken from a plant and the material does not decompose easily. It is used to make Polymer composite for building materials.
This was a research done by MARDI. They do not have any for sale. I wanted to get some back and try it out with my neps. Perhaps can place a layer of sphagnum moss at the bottom of the pot, then fill it up with kenaf and place another layer of s. moss on top to keep the humidity in the media.
