Friend, you pm me to ask and now you post. AiyayaH!

Goto any nursery which sells orchids or ACE hardware at the Curve or Midbvalley. Nurseries, how about the ones at sungai buluh or at Tropicana under the high tension wire near the Damansara Toll. Simple la. Just as for Sphagnum moss or moss for orchid. About RM10 - 15 you get a enuf to last you for a while.

Had to add this. A Penang guy telling you where to buy things in KL? I feel pretty honoured.

Ahem! So shall thee listen to me, thy honorable master. Be good, buy lota plants, practise planting lots and don't forget to eat. Thy lesson for this day. Class dismissed.

Hi....I'm also not sure la but of course live ones are better for the plants as it keeps the humidity high and also can tell you if its time to water or not by looking at the moss see its dry or not but thats not really needed just water once every 2 days for neps..For dried ones you can find them in the gardening section of big marts like Jusco...(which i always get) for RM4 cheap but not so good compared to live ones and new zealand spahnum..

hehe, they're got shpaghum moss growing in the garden of our condo near the swimming pool.No one cares about them except me.I asked the gardeners and they just say don't cut the flowers(they've got those pink orchids and spiderlilys). So I get to collect them. And they're live ones!And.........are there more than one type of sphagum moss? Those on my ping are lighter and the ones I collect are darker green.

Re: shagnum moss wanted

Marvin, I wonder if that's the live sphagnum moss. S. moss need quite wet/humid to thrive in our place (I mean tropical lowland). And they normally can't withstand direct hot sun for long. A picture of the moss you collected will tell.
Xi Wei, I don't encourage you to use just live SM for all your neps. The roots too will need some air. Moreover it's not easy to get live SM in the nursery, not to say a big quantity. Just use dried SM + perlite/sand, most neps thrive in this mix. You can get it in ACE or Jusco. Ace is selling a better quality New Zealand SM which lasts you for years. Jusco is selling "Uncle.... Sam or something" brand which is very much cheaper but poor quality. It decomposes rather quickly.

Xi Wei, do you have a camera or something to snap them? I'm interested to see what kind of mosses are those.
Actually you can place some as top layer in your nep pot. They will eventually form a layer of beautiful green carpet.
