Amp rarely produces upper pitchers. They are well known for the basal pitchers that they make, and some people actually cut the main stem to encourage the growth of a large clump of ground pitchers. Maybe the plant wasn't given't the right condition so that it could produce pitchers on the stem. However, this plant looks quite healthy and you got it at a superb price, considering it is less than RM25. Best to repot it so that it gets more space to put up more basals and ground pitchers.

Sure. Nep amp are very hardy, but if your area rains a lot and you are exposing the plant in open areas, you can use a mix of sphagnum and coco chips. Or peat moss and perlite.

Re: Hey N. ampullaria

give it a wider pot, your ampullaria looks strong and should be ale to grow more basals, i suggest you can change to Baba HP-130 pot which has a plate attached..

Ampullaria seems to benefit from this kind of pot that can keep the moss always in wet condition. Shade the plant 50%, amp does not like too bright .

The basals look really good Allen! I think you can just cut off the long stems and wait for the basals to grow bigger. I grow mine in the terrarium in a shallow water tray. They really like a lot of humidity and moisture. They don't take too well to my garden though, which is a little unpredictable in terms of weather and air circulation. :spinning:
