I agree with cpnut. In the tropics, we water so frequently and with the heavy rains (if growing outdoors) is more than enough to flush any salts out of the pot. It is a different story altogether in Western countries because in addition to more alkaline (hard) water, they water much less frequently (usually once a week) if growing in greenhouses. That is why salt accumulation around the roots is a major killer of the plants over there..
