Nice new plants... thought you got a "control mechanism" ?? Guess Casey was correct.... *biggrin2*

BTW, your first plant "N. x Gothica" is actually "N. x Red Leapord" (N. maxima x ventricosa or the reverse cross... can't remember :shy:)

You know how to add your signature to the pics but you don't know how to reduce the pic size??*biggrin2*

Try to reduce you pic size to 640x480 or 800x600 using any pic editor. Hope that helps.

Hahaha...control mechanism temporarily malfuntion.

Not N. x Gothica? Did'nt expect that from YG. Maybe the staff mis-labeled the plant. Thanks for pointing that out...guess N. x Red Leopard is not bad either as it's the pitchers that attracts me in the first place.

My earlier sifu only taught me to add signature*biggrin2*. Thanks a lot:1thumbup:

I checked Malesiana site and to my dismay i can't seem to find any difference between N. x Cemerlang and N.veitchii (hose mountain). :spinning: There's just no telling them apart...at least to my untrained eyes.

Maybe i should take more photos and post them here.

Hi Felipe,

Thanks, hope you can get all the neps you like in the future. We are quite blessed here as it's generally quite easy to find most variety of neps if you know where to look that is.

I think you could be right. The difference is in the lower lid and inner walls. From my pictures, there's no marking under the lid and inner wall whereas yours got some marking.

Re: Angkau's cup

Watch out for N. merrilliana fr BE, I suspect it's not a pure N. merrilliana (can't be 100% certain either), ask Fauzi, he also have doubts.

If you really wanted to get it, wait for EP to release their seed grown N. merrilliana, I got more confidence in them.

N. x Cermelang have some dots on the pitchers and the neck of the peristome is much higher... like N. fusca.

Angkau Tekor 13th August 2010 12:08 AM

Re: Angkau's cup

Thanks for the info on N.merilliana. Think i'll wait for EP to release their seed grown plants before getting one. Yea..i thought so they are more credible.

The diiference between these two plants(cemerlang & veitchii hose mountain) is so small it's hardly visible. Thanks all for the clarifications else i will still be confused by them.

Re: Angkau's cup

I read somewhere that BE's plants are sometimes not what they labeled them to be. Maybe it's trade secrets or an innocent mistake but i'm quite certain Truncata black is not the long lost species they claimed it to be. It could be that they hit the 'jackpot' with this one....while experimenting.

n. diatas is a highland neps, so you need to provide the necessary requirement for it....or else it will not pitcher (and in some circumstances, death).....that is why i am setting up another highland terrarium.....this time the temperature is always in the 20s......the previous highland terrarium is still ON...

n. diatas and n. chaniana are the experiment subject......small pitchers for the latter.....

My advice regarding BE's N. merrilliana, ask around to confirm it's a pure merrilliana... I have doubts about BE's release....

Too bad we suffered from the same fate but my other neps are doing quite well. Which one are you refering to...the basal? I got one red dragon if you're interested.

Kevyn, i did provide conditions i believed conform to HL neps needs. I place 3 plants(diatas, ventricosa & burbidgeae x edwardsiana) in my micro-terrarium and initially everything went well until one day the diatas leaves just turned brown and soft all within one day:confused: The other two are doing quite well up to now.

Please share with us your HL Terrarium set-up and how are you going to maintain the temperatures in the 20s. Are you going to use some kind of chiller or something?

Thanks Rob:blush:. Actually i did keep in mind your earlier reminder about the BE's N.merrilliana but when i see all the beautiful plants in front of me all cautions gone down the drain lah...hopeless case*biggrin2*

paphioboy,
Sorry i'm not sure about the other sources but you can order through Fauzi or direct from EP if it convenience you. Fauzi mentioned that he will be ordering by mid or end of november but there's no guarantee can get the plants we wanted as EP's plants are highly sought after and normally sold out within days of it's release.
