My xero after two weeks, changing colour

What a cool bromeliad... :laugh: I like tills, for their unusual shape, really looks like they have been sculpted..but alas, one only has that much $$$ to spend on CPs and orchids... :blush:

Thanks guys. I do find tills and Neps easier to grow, that's why most of my alllowance go to these two. :blush:

Your xero. infl looks very nice. Now is at it's prime. Will turm yellowish as it age.
Your 2nd pic is T. baileyi, a caulescent variant. There is another form which is viviparous.

Thanks for ID Andy! Didn't expect it to be a baileyi. By the way if I may ask how does the term caulescent and viviparous apply for tills? :confused:
My xero was blooming too soon I guess.:bored: Yellowish? Meaning the leaves or the infl? Is there a factor affecting xeros which cause them to flower so early? Also the result of hanging at 90 degrees caused the infl to row sideways and curved. My uncle who came to our house on CNY day called it 'the phoenix rising' :laugh:

Waa...must be very auspicious for you:laugh::laugh::laugh:. Oh...I mean the infl. ofcourse. You will see the sepals slowly turn to pastel yellow. I don't really know what trigger it to bloom. Sometimes stress can be a possible cause, sometimes it simply bloom as it wish to.

The term caulescent simply means with stem; ie: stem forming plants and vivipara means with pups growing out from finished inflorescence stalk.

Difficult to say for the first pic.Ya looks like a fasciculata but the leaves are too narrow even up to its leaf sheath. have to wait for the flower though.
2nd pic is a schideana.
