As I also have a D. Filiformis, i did a search about dormancy, not too much info from my quick searches, but there were some info that they do get into dormancy and that they do form Hibernaculum (dormancy leaves) like Sarracenia. So my guess is that it is getting ready for dormancy. I actually appreciate plants that do make these dormancy leaves because it is a more positive/proactive indicator that it is ready to go to sleep. Unlike for example VFTs that some don't make those wide, ground hugging leaves when ready to go dormant.
By the way, I found that Filiformis easy easy to do leaf propagation, maybe easier than capensis. 2 weeks I get small nobs of plantlets on a leaf cutting already.
