O` yes, your d.capensis typical are doing very nicely in the sun. you think yours have some heat-tolerant genes ? coz you know lah this weed tends to like cooler weather....

good work hongrui.....my fav from your drosera collection is the d.pulchella of course.

« Reply #3 on 4 Oct, 2007, 11:44 »thanks Naj, i'm mainly using a peat/perlite mix. LFS is used as a top layer for germinating seeds. the top layer of pebbles you see is just to prevent the peat/perlite mix from splashing out during heavy rains.

lol @ tarence. but how heat-tolerant the capensis are, i'm not too sure as my area does have cool nights (24-25C). i'm planning to do some leaf cuttings in one or 2 month's time and spread the capensis around SG and see if they do as well. that should tell how heat-tolerant they are.

« Reply #6 on 8 Oct, 2007, 9:41 »Nope, no ice blocks laahhh.

its because i'm staying at mandai area, surrounded by a nature reserve/army training area and a reservoir, not much build-up around here thus accounting for the low night temps.

D. spathulata as i know is a very variable sp., different localities will have different forms. i'm planning to get some more forms (and other sp.) in the coming year.
