I think it depending on your growing condition. For me since I grew all my neps outdoor exposing to rain, I will pot them in smaller pot so that when it's raining season, it'll not be too wet for too long.
N. northiana grew very slowy, so far I still have no problem with plants that out grew the pot. My 2 cents...
