I assume this is the orange-coloured Mokara you posted earlier. Yes, those tentacle-like things are new roots. The red thing in focus in the 2nd pic looks like a flower spike to me (notice the bract). Or is that the old spike? Mokara spikes can sometimes look reddish. If you were referring to the dried up things poking out of the nodes below, those were previous spikes. New spikes will only come out from nodes above the previous one as the plant grows taller.
