I've never tested the limit but it can carry a lot as long as you distribute the weight.

There is a network of veins on the underside of the leaf and that is relatively sturdy but the leaf itself is kind of paper thin and easily tears.

I put newspapers on top before placing the dog so the leaf doesn't get punctured. A few moments after the shot was taken the dog walked around and his foot went through the leaf.
