Adam, it took about a year for mine to flower from division. I don't know how long it would take if raising from seeds.
The plant died after it had finished flowering (it starts flower from the bottom to top), it seems this flowering process exhaust the plant. Luckily only the paticular plant that flowered died, the rest still fine.
I think I should try just to allow a few flowers to open, see if this help.
